After last week's loss when we had a depleted squad (only had 13 players), it was great to have 19 boys to call upon and on a sunny day it was the first time this team had played on the first team pitch.

Games against Kingswood rarely disappoint in terms of good hard flowing rugby, with recent results possibly flattering Keynsham and in some ways this game followed the same pattern. In terms of possession, territory and penalties conceded Keynsham were bettered. Kingswood also had a strong scrum and an efficient lineout where their driving maul put us under pressure.

Where Keynsham had a distinct advantage was the ability to take our chances. The boys probably had 8-10 opportunities throughout the game and scored seven tries to one.

In the first half, Keynsham held the upper hand and good team play lead to 3 tries to Dan on the wing. Towards half-time Kingswood asserted some pressure and decided to take the points with a penalty. With one minute remaining a strong break by Leo and excellent support from Finn led to the 4th try.

The second half started with Kingswood exerting more pressure. Keynsham went through a period of conceding multiple penalties to the point where a warning was received. Penalties continued and a team yellow card was handed out. Kingswood scored a driving try and it felt like the game balance could be tipping.

Kingswood were battering at the line when a turnover, quick passing to the wing and Dan running the length of the pitch flipped the game, and then 2 quick fire tries by Oscar sealed the game!

Overall it was a really positive game played in good spirit by both sides, in fact it was great to see the Keynsham and Kingswood boys mingling together on the patio after the game. The boys also had the experience of being on the wrong side of the referee and having the resilience to over come it.
